Entry #6: Cooler than the Rest

Image
Fun fact that you may not have known about me, but I collect Dragon Ball figures. Why you may ask? It's more so a hobby to me; a very expensive hobby. I chose Dragon Ball figures because their line, specifically the S.H. Figuarts line, is really nice looking with great articulation and accessories. Even though I love Star Wars, their high end figures just feel the same as a toy that I could find at target. These Dragon Ball ones though are beyond that. They feel like statues that you can pose with how good they look, and I really do cherish each and every one of them. Though one stands above all the rest: Cooler.      Picture of S.H. Figuarts Cooler ( https://www.toyark.com/2021/03/03/s-h-figuarts-dbz-cooler-final-form-revealed-419528 )         For those who don't know, this is Cooler, Frieza's brother from one of the Dragon Ball Z movies. Funnily enough, he's not even my favorite character, nor my favorite villain for that matter....

Entry #5: Higher Education, Higher Expectation, Higher Interest

Image
It really should come as no surprise that many students after high school tend to lean more towards higher education. Many jobs today require a degree in higher education, especially one that are able to pay for a fulfilling and stable life. College can do so much for a person. You get the chance to make new friend, have new experiences, to really learn what it means to be an adult. Though if I am being honest, it is not pretty. Granted, this is only my first year of college, but I feel like things are just really rough for the average college student.     To start things off lightly, it feels inconvenient and annoying to have to dodge the people who want you to sign something (Aka Clipboard guys). Like I just want to get to class, I would rather not sell my soul to something I do not really care about just to appease these people. Granted, that is a very dramatic way of saying I do not want to sign something, but somedays that is just how it feels. Then t...

Entry #4: Nobody can Beat me When I'm Super 17!

Image
Usually, when it comes to memes, whenever they're brought into other forms of media like video games and movies, they tend to fail. Things like Ultra Instinct Shaggy couldn't save Multiverses from irrelevancy, and bringing Morbius back in theaters only cost Sony lots of money with no returns. However, Dragon Ball Legends, a very popular Dragon Ball mobile game has made a meme into a huge success and a character to be feared. The line, " Nobody can beat me when I'm Super 17, " became an iconic line with how goofily the American voice actor delivered it. Prior to the LF Super 17 unit, every other Super 17 unit was pretty bad, having nothing that was actually threatening and generally just having many better alternatives. The only reason he was so popular was because of the meme. On the 31'st of January though, everything changed. Legends finally made a Super 17 unit that was practically unbeatable, just like the meme quote said. So what makes LF Super 17 s...

Entry #3: The Daily Bugle Isn't the Only One...

Image
Ah, news, a real double-edged sword. Sure, it can provide people some of the most accurate and most recent information, but in the wrong hands, the news can be really dangerous. Where you would see stories with truth, you would instead see partial truths that only account for one side. Where you would see objective you would see subjective. At worst, where you would see truth, you could see lies. In many cases, news in the hands of greed and bias create a recipe for disaster as many people will take the first thing they see at face value. In some cases though, people can point out bias easily, however with a practice called, "Slanted Reporting," it becomes much harder to detect since it is a lot more subtle.   Picture of biased news in the famous movie, "Spiderman." ( https://www.thepropgallery.com/spider-man-daily-bugle-spider-man-newspaper-cover )     Slanted reporting is having bias towards another side without making it obvious that there is bias....

Entry #2: Sonic Super-Disasters

Image
Sonic Superstars is the most recent Classic Sonic game to come out. Supposedly, this game was supposed to be the successor to the beloved game, "Sonic Mania Plus," which was a love letter to any Classic Sonic fan. With it also coming out 3 days before the highly esteemed, "Super Mario Wonder," it is safe to say that it had very big shoes to fill. When the game finally released, fans were disappointed to say the least. I got my copy along with Super Mario Wonder, and now all I can do is wish that I could travel back in time and stop myself from getting Sonic Superstars in the first place. This game did not live up to the hype that it had at its reveal. So why is this game so bad? There actually is a lot of reasons as to why this game is bad, but before I go over the bad, I do want to go over the good in this game.     To start with the good, this game has some amazing animation. The animation looks like it was ripped right out of the original games, and in ...

Entry #1: It's Hobbin' Time

Image
Hello there readers, I am Colin Sweeney. A man, a myth, a legend? No, not at all. I am however a person, just like all of you; a person with hobbies. Yes, it is true that I do not have many hobbies, but the hobbies that I do have are rather fun. Of course there's my main hobby which is just napping, but more often than not, it is more so just me passing out of exhaustion rather than an actual hobby. No, my real hobby is playing video games. On the surface level, that does not sound like much of an interesting hobby, but once delved into a bit more, it can prove itself to be very interesting with all of its amazing components.     The first thing that makes video games so fascinating are their stories. Back then, stories were either thrown into the instruction booklet or did not even exist to begin with. Nowadays, a game can tell many stories due to prior limitations of the console. A good story for a video game can really enhance your enjoyment with the game, and...

Blogger Target Practice

Image
It should come as no surprise that there are a lot of bloggers in the blogging industry. As such, quality is never consistent. Some blogs may be unprofessional, some may be professional, and some might even be in between those two classifications. Each and every blog will also be organized differently, and today, I will be evaluating two blogs to show what I mean.      To start things things off, we have our first blog from TMZ, known for having a T.V. show all about blogs and commentary. In this article,  they go over a breathtaking event of a woman clinging onto a speeding car for the sake of her dog. The organization that they use for this article's sentences are a double edged sword. On one hand, it makes longer sentences easier to read as they are not bundled together. On the other hand, when they use this technique on a short sentence, it starts to look very out of place. It is told in a professional manner as adding humor to this situation,...
